RUN-CHICKEN publishes a two-AA battery setup and approximately one year of typical battery life for the current T50. The door can show battery level through the app, and it supports sunrise/sunset scheduling, timer operation and manual app control. That combination makes it a strong starting point when your main goal is to avoid running electricity to the coop.

Omlet publishes a six-month battery-life estimate using four AA batteries for its Smart Autodoor. It can run from batteries or mains power and offers door status, battery level, remote control and alerts through its smart features. That makes it attractive when you want battery placement without giving up visibility.
The main tradeoff is that smart features add another layer to manage. The door can still be a good choice when the convenience of notifications matters more than squeezing the maximum possible time from a battery set.
ChickenGuard’s current Pro uses four AA alkaline batteries or 9–12V DC power. It is an opener rather than an integrated sliding-door body, so it can be useful when you already have a suitable pop-hole door. ChickenGuard also publishes timer, light-sensor, manual and DualSafe control options.
If you may eventually add mains power, a system that works on batteries now and DC later can be more flexible than replacing the whole door.

A manufacturer’s battery-life estimate is useful, but real life varies with temperature, battery chemistry, motor load, schedule frequency and how often you manually cycle the door. Cold weather is especially important because batteries can deliver less usable energy at low temperatures.
Rather than planning around the longest advertised number, make battery replacement part of a simple routine. Check status regularly, keep a spare set on hand and replace batteries before a long trip if the indicator is already low.
A battery system is only convenient if you know when it is getting weak. Prefer a visible indicator, app status or clear warning behavior.
