Home / Automatic Doors / ChickenGuard Front Cover Missing Error: How to Clear It
If your ChickenGuard says “Front Cover Missing,” start with the obvious: the front panel must be securely attached. The panel is part of the sensing system used during calibration.
Tighten the front cover fully before trying to calibrate. If the cover is attached but the error remains, ChickenGuard documents a hidden-menu Cover Sensing option that can be set to No on affected units, followed by a fresh calibration.
The front panel is not just cosmetic. On supported ChickenGuard models, sensors in the panel align with magnets around the spindle so the controller can count movement during calibration.
Make sure the cover sits flat and all required screws are installed. Do not attempt calibration with the front panel loose or removed.
A trapped wire, debris or misaligned internal component can keep the panel slightly away from the base and interfere with sensing.
ChickenGuard provides a hidden-menu procedure on affected units. Enter the advanced menu, find Cover Sensing and select No as directed by the manufacturer.
The door must be recalibrated after the error is cleared. Always set the open and closed positions according to the model-specific instructions.
For a broader calibration walkthrough, see ChickenGuard Door Error / Recalibrate Door.
If the front cover is secure and the documented setting change does not restore operation, contact ChickenGuard support rather than bypassing more safety or sensing functions.
No. ChickenGuard specifically warns that calibration requires the panel to be fitted.
Not primarily. It is a cover and sensing issue.
