Home / Automatic Doors / Best Camera to Verify Your Automatic Chicken Coop Door Closed at Night
An automatic door removes the dawn-and-dusk chore, but the safest habit is still verifying that the door actually closed.
For a coop with power and decent Wi-Fi, a wired outdoor camera such as the Tapo C320WS is a strong fit. For a coop without power, a solar battery camera or Nestera’s dedicated solar chicken-coop camera is simpler.
Tapo lists 2K video, night vision, IP66 weather resistance, local microSD storage and Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Nestera’s current kit combines Wi-Fi, night vision, motion detection, microphone, wide viewing angle and solar charging.
Infrared can interfere with some light-sensor doors, so do not point IR emitters directly at the door sensor.
A diagonal view across the doorway makes it easier to confirm the panel reached the bottom and no hen is outside.
