Home / Automatic Doors / ChickenGuard Blue Screen With No Text? Check the Power Supply First
A ChickenGuard display that lights up blue but shows no text usually points to a power problem rather than a dead LCD. The backlight can still illuminate even when voltage is too low for normal operation.
Replace all four AA batteries with brand-new compatible cells, confirm the negative end of each battery touches the spring and try a second fresh set if the problem remains. If the blue screen still has no text after multiple verified sets, ChickenGuard recommends contacting support with photos of the screen and circuit board.
The LCD backlight and the controller electronics do not have identical power demands. A weak or incorrectly installed battery set can produce a blue glow without normal text.
Do not replace only the easiest two. ChickenGuard specifically calls for a complete four-cell set.
Make sure every negative terminal is against the spring.
Standard units should use the manufacturer-recommended battery chemistry. Solar configurations can differ, so match your model.
ChickenGuard notes that even batteries sitting unused in packaging can occasionally be weak.
If the display still behaves abnormally, check for poor contact, corrosion or a loose connector before assuming the LCD itself has failed.
If several known-good battery sets produce the same blue blank screen, photograph the display and circuit board and contact ChickenGuard support.
No. The backlight receiving power tells you the fault is different from a completely unpowered unit.
Use only the battery type specified for your exact model.
