Home / Automatic Doors / ChickenGuard Door Opens the Wrong Direction? Fix Reversed Motor Travel
If your ChickenGuard says it is opening while the door is actually closing, or the door moves opposite to the command, the motor direction has been reversed. The fix depends on whether you have a Mark-4, Mark-5 or All-in-One model.
Mark-4 units need the string direction and motor-wire orientation checked. Mark-5 and All-in-One units may need the Motor Reverse setting changed in the Secret Menu. After correcting direction, always recalibrate.
The clearest sign is that the physical door moves opposite to the message on screen. “Opening” while the door goes down, or “Closing” while it rises, points to reversed travel rather than a scheduling problem.
The string should wind and unwind in the correct direction around the spindle. If it fully unwound and rewound itself backwards, the motor can appear reversed.
ChickenGuard says the black and red motor wires must be connected in the correct positions on the board.
On Mark-5 units, enter the Secret Menu and change the Motor Reverse setting. Then test direction with Motion Control.
The All-in-One has no lift string, so reversed travel is handled through its Motor Reverse setting.
If the door moves in the correct physical direction but at the wrong time of day, check the clock, AM/PM setting and open/close schedules instead.
Once Up and Down correspond to the correct physical movement, perform a full calibration before returning to automatic mode.
Yes, especially on Mark-4 units if it has unwound and rewound in the opposite direction.
No. It has no lift string, so use the Motor Reverse setting.
