Home / Automatic Doors / RUN-CHICKEN Power Mode in Winter: When to Use It for Ice, Snow and Debris
RUN-CHICKEN’s current drive units include a Power Mode designed for winter resistance. It can help the door overcome ice, snow and debris, but it should come after basic cleaning rather than replacing maintenance.
Clear the rails and thaw any solid ice first. If the door still meets mild winter resistance, enable Power Mode on a supported T50, Eternal or Giant drive unit. The mode increases motor force, so keep the doorway clear and continue checking that the anti-pinch safety feature behaves normally.
RUN-CHICKEN describes Power Mode as an advanced feature that increases motor force when the door encounters winter resistance such as ice, snow or debris buildup.
Remove feathers, mud and packed snow. Extra motor force should not be used to grind through a dirty rail.
If the panel is frozen solid, gently thaw the mechanism. Do not rely on the motor to break heavy ice loose.
Current T50 upgrade, Eternal and Giant product pages list Power Mode. Older door generations may not have the setting.
Because Power Mode adds force, make sure the safety behavior is working normally and the doorway is clear before unattended operation.
A canopy, dry rails and routine cleaning reduce the need for extra force in the first place.
Use it when extra force is actually needed. Normal clean operation should not require winter assistance.
No. Mechanical binding should be corrected rather than masked with more motor force.
